- Masoud S. A. Yazdi was born in Tehran , at home and without any hope for his survival . His mother’s amniotic sac had ruptured five weeks before delivery , and during those five weeks , the fetus could die under the pressure of the uterus or even be born dead . After five weeks of absolute rest , Massoud’s mother gave birth to him . When he was born , he was just a layer of skin on the bones … covered in meconium from his eyes to his toes . A local midwife took his birth . Seeing the baby , she gave the bad news to the mother that it is unlikely that such a baby will survive until tomorrow . But he survived . S. Masoud was the fourth child and the third son in his family . Throughout his childhood and teenage years he didn’t love any family member as much as his only sister . But when he was eighteen and on the verge of preparing for the most difficult exam of his life (university entrance exam ) the fifth child was born , a very lovely boy . Due to his mother’s severe illness that occurred immediately after the birth of the fifth child , he and his older brother had to take care of their younger brother . For this reason , he fell in love with children and whole aspects of mothercraft and at the same time he had a feeling similar to that of a father towards his younger brother .
- Masoud loved painting , music , caricature , mathematics and more than any thing else: writing . But he wasn’t supported by his family to achieve any of them because his father wanted a physician in the family ! Despite the lack of time , S. Masoud used every opportunity to write and attended numerous classes in the field of story writing and playwriting , and studied linguistics as much as he could . And writing became backyard and a sort of loneliness land for S. Masoud . When he writes , he follows a path that he didn’t plan in advance … he might have prepared himself for a sad story and then suddenly found himself with a humorous story ( the same event which happened in the story of the ” sleepwalker of my dreams ” which published in Canada in a story collection named ” Hašt Qalam ” by Salmā Atārān )
In the art of storytelling for children , he began his ability at the age of nineteen by telling stories to his one-year-old brother . He didn’t have much luck and thought that it wouldn’t work . Until he was twenty-six years old and on the verge of graduating from university , he was in a special situation where he had to entertain several children and teenagers at a party . Once again , he tested his ability to tell stories and the result of his effort was amazing . He was not able to practice this ability because he had to start his career in the field of medicine , but after his marriage and with the birth of his daughter , Sarvin , this skill came alive to him again .
Servin used to sleep only with stories or books that his father narrated to her or read for her . Sarvin did not like to hear a repeated story except one : Droppy Druppy , the story which is published by Austin Macauley recently .
This story was told to Sarvin twelve years ago , and now after twelve years , it has finally been published . This long delay is the result of S. Massoud’s job as a physician .
As a doctor , S. Massoud is not as experienced in any skill as clinical examination , and despite his thirty years of experience in medicine , he still adheres to performing clinical examinations just like the first day , and with his constant doubt , he does not allow himself and his experience to make an early diagnosis or start a sort of hasty treatment . For him , clinical examination is not only a science , but also its an art and even more : a human heritage . And now , standing at threshold of entrance to the era of artificial intelligence , he is looking for a way to find and provide an efficient and universal symbiosis between the art of clinical examination and artificial intelligence .
- Massoud has lived in many parts of his country Iran , and during the twenty-eight years that he has been practicing medicine in his private office , he has welcomed all the tribes and strata of his compatriots who have come to visit him from all over the country . He considers his people worthy of a completely prosperous and comfortable life and conditions , and he is unhappy with the regressive course of the last forty years in the economy and culture of his country . He still hopes that the people of his land , especially women , can achieve what they deserve . And he also hopes that one day all manifestations of dictatorship , from governments and government systems to modern patriarchies and slavery , will be dismantled … so that the world will be a better place for children
